Denver is known for many things. But near the top of that list would be chill people with a love for both the outdoors and a great drink! And with over 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s no surprise that the best rooftop bars in Denver are always popping. In bottles AND in atmosphere!
A great rooftop is a favorite spot for many Denverites to grab a drink after work. Or to catch up with friends while soaking up that mile high sunshine. I personally believe “rooftop season” should be added to the official four seasons. Especially for those living in Denver!
So, if you’re on the hunt for the best rooftop bars in Denver to check out, you’re in luck! I’ve compiled a list of my favorite spots to share a cocktail (or five) and split an app or two with friends.
The Undisputed Listing of the Best Rooftop Bars in Denver
1. ViewHouse Ballpark
The Viewhouse is a hip downtown locale equipped with plenty of indoor (and even lawn) seating. But for the best experience, you’ll want to grab brunch or meet up for happy hour on the rooftop. From here, you can’t beat the view of Coors Field!
Sip on bottomless mimosas or opt for a signature cocktail, depending on the time of day, and laugh the hours away in good company. If you get your fill of the rooftop (as if that’s a thing) you can head down to the lawn for cornhole, volleyball, and other games.
Fair warning – this place gets absolutely packed before or after a Rockies game. So, if you’re not into that kind of atmosphere, you’ll want to steer clear when we’re playing at home.
2. Tap Fourteen
Into the craft beer scene? Look no further! Tap Fourteen is a rooftop beer garden that offers 70 taps of Colorado craft beer. In fact, they get involved in the annual Great American Beer Festival every year.
And don’t worry if beer isn’t your thing (I’ve been there)! They also have a full bar and bartenders slinging all your favorite cocktails as well.
It’s also a great place to grab a bite to eat, offering ballpark classics like pretzels, wings and cheese fries. Along with some fun surprises, like candied bacon and cheesy yuca bites. Challenge some strangers to a friendly game of cornhole and check out their rotating happy hour specials.
Linger is a one-of-a-kind Denver establishment. This restaurant is housed in what once was a mortuary, so it’s definitely worth checking out the inside at least once. They even turned cadaver tables into bar tables!
But the rooftop is really where it’s at. Here you can enjoy some great grub and share some drinks with friends and an amazing view of the downtown Denver skyline.
Visit during happy hour for a selection of $5 beer, $6 cocktails and wine, and a variety of small bites and shareable plates. Or, if you’re like me, come during brunch for the same amazing food and bottomless mimosas.
This is sure to be one spot you will be adding to your regular rotation.
If you thought Denver was already as high as it gets, check out the rooftop at 54Thirty. Because this (relatively new) spot currently boasts the accolades for being Denver’s highest open-air rooftop.
Sitting on top of the Le Meridien hotel, guests can savor their specialty in amazingly crafted cocktails. And no, you certainly don’t have to be a hotel guest to imbibe. All are welcome!
Whether you’re there for a casual after-work drink. A first date. Or even a bachelorette party stop. You’re sure to find a killer drink to compliment the killer view.
The only downside is that this spot is seasonal, so unfortunately it is not open year-round. Many other rooftops in Denver are able to make it work, so fingers crossed 54Thirty will change this in the future!
5. Ale House
When the weather’s nice, the Ale House opens up their rooftop patio for seating, making this another great rooftop bar in Denver to check out. The location is prime – just look at those views of the downtown skyline!
Their drink menu is extensive, and the staff are attentive and professional. If you’re hungry, you can order tasty bites from the kitchen – the pulled pork sandwich is divine, but you’re sure to be satisfied by anything you choose from the menu.
6. Avanti Food and Beverage
Avanti boasts a super cool and unique restaurant concept. They’re a collective eatery with seven different restaurants to choose from in one location, each housed in modified shipping containers for a truly modern feel.
They also have a killer rooftop perfectly suited for getting some vitamin D while you sip a cocktail! And from their location (west of Downtown in the Highlands) you have full views of almost the entire downtown skyline. There’s even a bleacher setup to ensure you are able to take advantage of the best possible views!
Killer concept + killer views = extremely busy no matter when you visit, so be prepared for that. Some amazing grub, cocktails, and the prospect of new friends should ease any potential concerns.
